like most of the show’s male audience, i’m madly in love with some combination of christina hendricks and her mad men character, joan.  it’s interesting to me that this show is inciting such a creative fan reaction (viz this piece by nobody’s sweetheart) without being itself overly aestheticised – the set and costumes are right on without being that kind of flashily anachronistic retro pop that we know from eg down with love.
